This Furniture Program is named in honor of one of the world's greatest champion's of the poor, namely, Blessed Mother Theresa. As the Roman Catholic Church of Sacred Heart in Monroe, New York, the mission of the Blessed Mother Theresa Furniture Program is to provide basic furniture free of charge to the less fortunate in our area.
Every week we receive dozens of calls requesting beds, couches, kitchen tables and chairs, and dressers. Our volunteers
We are able to accept a limited amount of furniture in good condition to distribute to those in need. The request are often for beds, couches, dressers, tables and chairs. We are renting—at a generously discounted rate—a storage unit from Uncle Bob’s Storage in Harriman. Donations of furniture can be made to the program in memory of a loved one similar to the way sanctuary candles, flowers, and other items are offered in memory of a loved one at Church.
How can you help?
Make a donation payable to Sacred Heart Parish Outreach for $140.00 to pay for the storage unit for one month. Be sure to list who is being memorialized or honored.
Consider donating gently-used furniture. We are able to pick up the furniture if it is in your garage or on a first floor (no stairs).
“We are so touched and surprised that something like this is available to us. Our children were sleeping on the floor and we don’t feel that we deserve any of this.”
– Said by grateful parents after we delivered furniture, food, and Christmas gifts.
