Ushers play an important role in the Catholic Church. They serve to welcome parishioners and visitors through the doors of the Church.
Ushers are expected to help minimize disruptions during the Mass; assist Eucharistic ministers by leading them to those who cannot proceed through the Communion line; assign Offertory gift bearers; pass around the collection basket; prop the doors open; answer questions a parishioner may have; and distribute the weekly bulletin. After Mass, ushers are expected to straighten up the interior of the Church which includes picking up trash, putting hymnals in their proper place, and raising kneeling benches.
As one can see, ushers play a very important part in our parish community! As a model and first impression to the doors of our Church, we ask that ushers dress in proper Church attire and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
If you believe you can take on this responsibility please contact our Head Usher, Tom Fallon at 845-325-9425.
